Three Key OPRAH Booking Secrets Revealed Plus BONUS TIP!

With Annie Jennings PR's Publicity Club Of America OPRAH Booking Division

1. You must be enthusiastic about your topic of expertise. Some people think an expert has to sound like a professor but the opposite is true. You should try to sound more like a cheerleader if anything! Speak in simple terms, don't throw in a bunch of big words to sound like an intellectual. Don't use acronyms or slang related to your expertise. Producers want to know that you'll be able to get excited about your topic AND that the audience will be able to understand you.

2. Be available. Be flexible. And don't be demanding. Producers don't always have control of the schedule but will do their best possible to make it easy on you. The more available you are, the more producers will appreciate you, and the more likely you will be invited back. Also, a hand written thank you card for their time, effort, etc...goes a long way to set you a part from everyone else.

3. Understand that producers are busy, busy people. Be kind to them. Don't complain if it took them a week to call you back. Be happy they called you back. Don't take advantage of their time by not being able to present yourself and what you're trying to promote. Be ready to give a 3 minute presentation at any time.

BONUS TIP: When you send a pitch in, make it stand out. Print it on colored paper. Enclose it in a greeting card. Send a product sample along with it. Do something to make that producer think about __________ (insert your name) when they think about _________ (insert your topic).
